Welcome Dear Children, Young people, Parents, Teachers and Film Enthusiasts!
We are so excited to present the 8th Lahore International Children’s Film Festival. We are proud that through the past 7 editions, LICFF has become one of the most favorite festivals in the cultural life of youth and children in Pakistan.
Storytelling is unique in films, as it speaks to children in a visual language that they can relate to and learn from. Majority of the festival showcase presents films which are creative, and promote imagination to children at various levels. These are tasteful in design, music and tell stories that help children to become global citizens.
The program for this year is really interesting, as we had record submissions from all over the world – and also featuring some of the best selected films from last years of LICFF. The festival received nearly 1070 from 67 countries and we curated a show of 80 best films 26 Countries.
LICFF Young – Film making competition for children and youth is also growing in terms of the quality and the number of films submitted each year. Young students from all over Pakistan are telling stories through film and are being screened in cinemas at the festival. Our film workshops “Once Upon a Film” our film workshops program is building the capacity of children in not only cities but also remote areas to understand the art of storytelling through moving images.
It is the 8th year we are continuously growing in outreach, taking the festival to remote areas where children are in most need of exposure to creativity. It is a dream come true to see that the festival is expanding each year to reach children from various parts of Pakistan. We just held 6th Karachi International Children’s Film Festival, and this year with the support of Danish embassy we have taken the festival events and film workshops to Jamshoro and Tando Jam in interior Sindh and Bhakkar in South Punjab.
We are thankful to CKU for extending their support for outreach of the festival and supporting the creative workshops. I am also thankful to all the partners and sponsors for adding value and to make it all possible.
I am always pleased to work with The Little Art, a creative and visionary bunch of young people who put in their hearts to produce the festival each year.
We hope to have your support in contributing to the artistic and cultural life for children in Pakistan. I welcome you to enjoy and celebrate the experience of the 8th Lahore International Children’s Film Festival!
Let’s celebrate education with the magic of cinema!
