The Little Art opened the 1st Jamshoro International Children’s Films Festival 2015 on Monday 9th February 9, 2015 at Pir Hasamuddin Rashdi Auditorium of the Institute, University of Sindh Jamshoro. The 6-day festival is organized by The Little Art in collaboration with Institute of Sindhology and it will run from Monday 9th February to Saturday, 14th February 2015.
The opening was attended by nearly 300 children from Syed Panah Ali Shah Model School Sindh University Colony and various schools of Jamshoro and was inaugurated by the acting Vice-Chancellor of Sindh University Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah. The legend actor of Pakistani film industry Mustafa Qureshi, Deans Dr. Abdul Rasool Abbasi, Dr. Anwar Khan Pathan, Sajid Qayoom Memon, Dr. Mehmood Mughal, Prof. Naimatullah Khilji, Syed Sajjad Hussain Shah and the festival team from The Little Art also participated in the inaugural ceremony.
“It gives me pleasure to share that the Little Art is holding its first Jamshoro International Children’s Film Festival at Sindh University which is a unique and important event in Pakistan for children and youth”, said the acting Vice-Chancellor of SU Prof. Dr. Parveen Shah. She further added, “It is very crucial for Pakistani children and youth to experience cultures and learn from mediums like film, which is becoming a tool for education all over the world. I extend my wishes for the Festival, and hope that the initiative grows each year and the same will continuously be organized at Sindh University in future too”, she said.
Mr. Qureshi’s was presented a life-time achievement award for his contribution to performing arts and lauded Sindhology for taking the initiative to introduce the new tradition of organizing children’s film festival.
Speaking at the ceremony, senior film actor Mustafa Qureshi expressed his gratitude to the gathering for showering so much love and honour on him and said that Sindh and art were inseparable.
Jamshoro Festival will showcase 45 films from 20 countries including 10 films from Pakistan that are carefully selected and suitable people of all age groups especially children. These films have been selected from more than 400 entries from 35 countries.
The Festival Director Shoaib Iqbal said; “It is a great delight for us that the Festival has reached at Sindh University Jamshoro, this year after being held in Karachi, Peshawar, Lahore and Islamabad. Each year we aspire to reach to more children and youth across the country and it brings me immense joy to be bringing quality cinema to thousands of young children in Jamshoro. We look forward to have University’s support in future to organize and expand creative learning opportunities for children and young people in Pakistan.” He said.
Director Institute of Sindhology Prof. Saeed Mangi said he took the initiative of organizing such a unique festival in a bid to promote research culture on the campus. The University of Sindh, the oldest University of the country, which aims to be an institution for creative and innovatively engaged scholars endeavoring and furthering knowledge and to provide education that promotes freedom, unity, peace and understanding of our historical diversity.
The Little Art held the closing ceremony of it’s 1st Jamshoro International Children’s Films Festival 2015 on Saturday 14th February, 2015 at Pir Hasamuddin Rashdi Auditorium of, University of Sindh Jamshoro. The 6-day festival was organized by The Little Art in collaboration with Institute of Sindhology and had shows running from Monday 9th February to Saturday, 14th February 2015 for children and youth of Sindh.
The 6 day festival was attended by almost 5,000 children, young people and families. Audience came from S.S village school colony, students of knowledge center Jamshoro, Uqab public high school Qasimabad, Hyderabad, Sawera public school, Govt girls high school Mirpur old, Indus public school jamshoro, Irc sojhro elementary school manzoorabad, Irc sojhro elementary school khanoth, Spark child rights organization, Karachi, G. Model commonty school lumhu colony Jamshoro, G.r.d.o muhammad bin brohi school, G.r.d.o zawar shahan molakhani school, College of design Hala.

On the closing ceremony, certificates were awarded to University of Sindhology staff and The Little Art team members by Festival Director, Shoaib Iqbal and Pervaiz Ahmed Patthan, Dean of Department of Social sciences, University of Sindh, Jamshoro
The end of the ceremony also featured a musical performance which was organized for The Little Art team and faculty of University of Sindh, Jamshoro by Alan Faakir’s son who performed along with musicians and Dr. Zulfiqar Qureshi also performed with his team.
Closing remarks were given by the team of The Little Art where they expressed their gratitude of welcoming the festival to Sindh and giving the opportunity of bringing world’s best films for children and youth to present at the festival in Sindh. “This festival marks the start of a great adventure, our love and support shown by our friends in Sindh will give us the opportunity to growing the festival further and bringing the best of children’s cinema to Sindh each year. On behalf The Little Art team, we would love to extend our thanks to the University of Jamshoro, all children, youth and families who participated in the festival and made it a great success” said Festival Director, Shoaib Iqbal.
